The HECTER project is using earth system and global atmospheric models to:

• Improve understanding of the sources and removal processes of atmospheric hydrogen.
• Quantify the indirect climate effects of hydrogen emissions:
  • What are the contributions from methane, ozone, stratospheric water vapour, aerosols, clouds?
  • Does the climate impact depend on region and where the hydrogen is emitted?
• Develop a policy tool using the FaIR simple climate model to assess the climate impacts of future hydrogen emission scenarios.
